Being selected to be part of our Elite squad should be considered an honour.  Our goal is to see members of the Elite squad achieve medal success at a regional and national level within their chosen events.

We also aim to support swimmers to:

  • Regularly qualify for (and final at) NER Short and Long Course Championships.
  • Produce frequent peak performances at target Level 1 meets
  • Prepare youth/senior athletes for University / N&D Performance Programs
  • Develop towards specialism (sprint, middle-distance or distance)

Members of the Elite Squad range in age from 15 to 18 years (age as at December 31st), and enjoy a varied training programme that includes:

  • Medley based training, developing towards specialism (sprint, mid-distance or distance)
  • Supplementary training on kick, dolphin kick, maximal speed, stroke efficiency and stroke skills (starts, turns and finishes)
  • Developing skills and tactics towards world class parameters

Our focus is on supporting swimmers to achieve excellence and nurture ambition. To do this we expect our Elite swimmers to meet high standards, which include:

  • Attending the prescribed number of weekly sessions
  • Train at the prescribed density and intensity for themesleves and the group
